Toronto Meeting Group: Seventh Annual OAHI Halloween: Scary Home Inspector Stories 2020

Send your virtual self to the OAHI Seventh Annual Halloween: Scary Home Inspector Stories 2020 session. No need to worry about shaking hands with your contagious competitors, getting into a traffic accident or having your vehicle towed; just fire up your laptop.

Join the Toronto Meeting Group virtually: OAHI members from across our great province are welcome on Tuesday Oct. 27, 2020 at 7 p.m. when we will again dissect some “very scary” inspections that will turn your grey hair white.

You must reserve your spot in advance as soon as possible by sending an email to oahi@oahi.com and ask Nicole to reserve your spot, because nobody can just show up (and later leave) a virtual event. Click here for more details.

OAHI’s Members Perks Plus program continues to deliver new opportunities so you can get the most out of your membership.

Some of the discounts equate to more than your member fees.

Infection Control (COVID-19)

Pandemic changes the way we work, play, and live. We know this, so how does this affect us as home inspectors? Ask yourself the following questions: are you consistent with keeping social distancing, wearing masks, and using hand sanitizer/proper washing of hands? Is that enough? The simple answer is NO! You must carefully protect yourself better in someone else’s home environment. We must be respectful, mindful, and careful. Here are some tips: bring slip on covers for feet, wear gloves and wash/sanitize touch points frequently and thoroughly throughout the visit, not just before and after the inspection. Peoples homes are not always the most sanitized so we must do everything we can not only to protect ourselves but the homeowner, their family, ourselves and our family, coworkers, and community.”

Tarion Feedback Request

“Dear Stakeholder,

The Rebuilding Consumer Confidence Act, 2020 was passed on July 14, 2020 and included amendments to the Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act to support Tarion’s continued role in administering new home warranties and protections if the New Home Construction Licensing Act, 2017 is proclaimed into force.

Your feedback will help to inform Tarion’s regulatory changes to support implementation of these key government initiatives.

We look forward to receiving your comments by Oct. 19, 2020, through Ontario’s Regulatory Registry or at submissions@tarion.com.

Click here for the full announcement.”

Please send us (publicrelations@oahi.com) photos of the amusing “What Were They Thinking” items you come across during your home inspections (protect client’s privacy please) so we can share them here and online.  Please include captions and why the issue is a problem.
